Wolters Kluwer Launches Web-Based Compendium of Clinical Resources for Achieving Optimal Patient Outcomes

Posted in Press Releases on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Wolters Kluwer, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today the launch of Clinical OneSource™, a customer portal designed to provide the clinical community as well as Sentri7® and Simplifi 797® customers with clinical guidance for achieving optimal patient outcomes. Specifically, the portal offers best practice resources for developing comprehensive antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), infection prevention and safe compounding activities in hospitals and health systems, all focal points of national regulatory initiatives to elevate patient care and lower costs.

AMS is central to national and global initiatives addressing escalating infection rates tied to organisms resistant to many antibiotics. These resistant organisms often contribute to incidents of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and require a comprehensive strategy and response to infection prevention. Pharmaceutical compounding practices have also come under increased scrutiny in recent years.

The Clinical OneSource website is also accessible from the Pharmacy OneSource® home page and within the Sentri7 and Simplifi 797 Help and Training pages. It currently features solution-focused blogs, reference material, best-practice guidelines and webinars.

“Through Sentri7 and Simplify 797, Wolters Kluwer is arming healthcare organizations with the tools needed for effective response to critical clinical issues and challenges, impacting care delivery and performance within the risk-bearing landscape,” said Leo Barbaro, Vice President & General Manager, Clinical Terminologies and Surveillance, Wolters Kluwer, Clinical Solutions. “Clinical OneSource extends this commitment by providing expert guidance for developing effective and sustainable programs that positively impact patient outcomes.”

A web-based, real-time decision support application, Sentri7 drives continuous improvement by addressing multiple infection prevention responsibilities, including the investigation of HAIs, isolation management, multi-drug resistant organism (MDRO) management and compliance with federal and state reporting requirements. The solution also provides real-time AMS functionality, clinical content and consulting services to optimize antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) by alerting clinicians to the improper use of antimicrobials and providing guidance for proper actions.

A USP 797 quality management system, Simplifi 797 offers everything needed to establish the training, risk management and quality assurance practices necessary for a safe and efficient sterile compounding environment, minimizing the potential for error.
