Wolters Kluwer Clinical Drug Information Empowers Healthcare Organizations to Engage Patients with New Consumer Education Center

Posted in Press Releases on Friday, November 14, 2014.

November 14, 2014 — Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today the debut of the Consumer Education Center, a suite of Web-hosted educational tools healthcare organizations can use to create a patient portal or consumer health information website. With the strength of industry-leading clinical content and educational materials from Wolters Kluwer Clinical Drug Information, healthcare organizations will be able to engage consumers in their care and wellness, building deep customer loyalty.

The Consumer Education Center is designed to be easy to implement and maintain, and it adopts the healthcare organization’s webpage template styling and branding, providing a seamless look and feel for the user. The center’s tools are created by advanced-degree pharmacists and other professional clinicians, but they are crafted to be accessible and easy-to-understand for the lay consumer. The Consumer Education Center includes:

  • More than 6,000 patient education leaflets on:
    • Adult and pediatric medications (by brand and generic names)
    • Natural products
    • Conditions, procedures and healthy living topics (with illustrations, when applicable)
  • Drug Identifier Tool with more than 15,000 sharp color images
  • Drug Interaction Checker

“Today’s patients are increasingly more savvy and demanding when it comes to involvement in their own healthcare,” stated Steven Kerscher, Vice President & General Manager, Clinical Drug Information, Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions. “Hospitals, pharmacies, and other healthcare organizations strive to educate, interact, and connect with patients, but not all of them have the time or infrastructure to design, program and maintain an educational Web presence. The Consumer Education Center helps fill that gap, giving these busy organizations a ready-made solution that still offers the highest quality, clinically relevant and timely educational tools to their patients.”
