Amphion Medical Solutions Launches Self-Paced Online ICD-10 Training System for HIM Departments, Individual Coders

MADISON, Wis. – (Jan. 9, 2014) – Amphion Medical Solutions, a leading provider of advanced transcription and coding solutions and services, announced today the launch of Amphion University, a comprehensive online ICD-10 training program featuring courses designed and led by the company’s AHIMA-approved instructors. To maximize ICD-10 comprehension, Amphion U offers a customizable curriculum of individual modules and complete training packages, as well as terminology manuals, codebooks and a robust library of practice records coded by Amphion’s ICD-10 experts.

“Coders should be training now to achieve proficiency in ICD-10 before the transition deadline. But escalating demand is making it difficult to purchase high-quality live-interactive training programs led by qualified instructors,” said Minnette Terlep, BS, RHIT, Amphion’s Vice President of Business Development and Chief Compliance Officer. “Amphion U fills this gap with an interactive and customizable educational experience encompassing the three primary learning styles – visual, verbal and written – to ensure coders are fully prepared to function in an ICD-10 healthcare system.”

Amphion U provides robust e-learning modules with interactive lessons, including exercises designed by Amphion’s ICD-10 experts and a unique “hover hint” feature that provides assistance with challenging exercises without revealing the answers. Coders can also submit questions to Amphion’s instructors via e-mail and receive responses within two days of submission.

Coders, who can pause and resume courses as often as necessary, have full access to Amphion’s library of practice records, codebooks, terminology manuals and reference sites even after training has been completed. Amphion U also includes pre- and post-training ICD-10 assessments to measure readiness and demonstrate proficiency.

Coders can earn up to 16 CEUs for ICD-10-CM and 24 CEUs for ICD-10-PCS training. AHIMA CEUs can also be earned for completing the assessments, as well as for practice coding through Amphion’s ICD-10 library.

“Ongoing access to lessons and practice records is particularly important to ensure coders’ skills remain sharp between completion of training and their facility’s conversion to ICD-10,” said Rachel Jorgensen, RHIA, Amphion’s Coding Support Manager. “Amphion U also helps coders expand their career options with high-quality training, including specialty specific and PCS root operations, to expand skill sets and learn new areas of specialty.”
